Against Obesity
I decided to start exercising today. For the first time in my life, I WANTED to go out there and better myself before it was too late (so to speak). I know what you're thinking; "You're not fat
shut up!". You're right. I'm not fat in the least, but I am TERRIBLY out of shape and I want to better myself. I could barely run anywhere today, being so out of shape. I'm not doing this for anyone but myself, which I think is VERY important. If you choose to exercise, do it for yourself; not a lover, not a parent; for you. My boyfriend taught me that with some effort.
The point of all this blabbering is to encourage people to exercise; a little support telling you I am suffering with you and I know what you're going through. I'm going to write out things I do daily, especially diet related things. Of course, I'm in no position to be talking about these things. I took one nutrition class, and that doesn't give me any props on being a pro on nutrition. I also took this class two years ago; there wasn't enough incentive to motivate me to go exercise.) .
First off, what is hunger? Hunger, to me, is a sensation that you feel instinctively. It tells you when you need food, which helps your body to live. I've read that when you ignore your hunger, you'll feel the hunger worsen and when you finally eat, you might have a tendency to overeat.
Don't get me wrong; I'm NOT a calorie counter. I believe that some foods are more filling then others. Let's compare a baked potato to candy: even if they have the same amount of calories, the baked potato will fill you faster.
Liquids are more likely to fill you up, but also make you empty your stomach, thus making you hungry again. I've stopped drinking so much soda because I know it's bad for me. I've been drinking soda for years and I never drank anything else. I've been nagged at by many people about it being bad. My mom, my boyfriend, my friends have told me I will get diabetes. So I primarily drink milk/water/juice now.

THIS is NOT about making fun of people, I'm just trying to encourage others to make healthy decisions like me. There's no need to sit around and do nothing all day, especially if you don't work. It only takes about an hour a day. And even with my busy life I have time to do it, so I don't think it should be a problem with you. I have friends who are very unhappy about themselves and I want to help.

Then at least, you are there to bug yourself. If you depend on someone, if that someone stops bugging you, you'll stop doing it. So yeah
and... I had no idea that watermelon is more filling than apple!
but, does that mean you have to eat the whole watermelon? O_O eeerrr...
Oh and I'm happy your trying to get healthy
It sucks that all the food at schools are bad...and our foods are loaded with things that make us unhealthy (not just fat) like things that cause cancer and are banned in other countries...x__o go America? Where is our freedom to health T_T
Great journal, by the way! ^_^
i know exactly what you are talking about though.
However I was not only out of shape I had gained a LOT of weight... though I blame this part on my hawaiian family telling me I had to eat and finish my plate even though I wasn't hungry (I often have the eyes-bigger-than-my-stomach problem xDD).
So now I'm trying not to eat as much and eat the 6 small meals a day and i exercise on all but the weekends.
My stamina has increased DRAMATICALLY.
And it's only been... almost 3 weeks now.
I used to not be able to walk up stairs without getting winded or I couldn't run for like.. more than 5-6 seconds (i don't know the distance or I would give it).
Now I can run for almost a 1 and a half minutes to 2 minutes without stopping.
Stairs are nothing.
I do drink soda on occasion.
But not often.
I haven't drank it often since I was like.. 13.
I usually drink like 10 glasses a water a day.
So... I'm good.
I hate coffee so I drink that.
And I also drink OJ and chocolate milk. ^^
but yes, I understand wanting to better your stamina and endurance.
It's a big thing especially if you find yourself getting winded easier and easier.
my advice is try something easier to use like an elliptical at first.
I went for... 20 minutes the first time out.
I was sweating liek crazy and tired as hell but it helped a GREAT deal.
actually first thing I did was 20 minutes of Zumba - which... was crazy hard. xDDD
Then I went on the elliptical.
but... i find throwing myself back into it really quickened my stamina increase if that helps~
It's my fav food and I'll eat a ton, and will still feel hungry.
Now I've only got a few kilos to go until I reach the goal weight I set
And I don't walk a lot for exercise, but I do other things, like rock climb etc. I think a lot of people have the issue of, they don't like walking/running so they just don't do it. You gotta find something you enjoy because it won't feel like a chore!
Anyway, thank you for the journal
